You don't have to know us already.
You don't have to be joining the Simpson Desert crossing.
And you don't need to have experience in every part of a role.

Make Tracks For Jack is moving from planning into delivery.
In June 2027, a convoy of people from across Australia will come together for an extraordinary Simpson Desert crossing — travelling some of the country's most remote terrain while starting conversations about connection, mental health, suicide prevention and the importance of never navigating life's difficult terrain alone.
Behind that journey is a growing team of people making it possible.
Now we're looking for a few more.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
We’re looking for capable people because we want capable people — not people we can hover over while they work.
If you take ownership of an area of Make Tracks For Jack, we'll agree on the destination, give you the boundaries, make sure you have what you need — and then give you room to get on with it.
No 5-person approval chains.
No meeting to arrange the meeting about the next meeting.
And no Event Director peering over your shoulder asking why you've moved the logo three millimetres to the left.
We’ll give you:
a clear purpose — you'll know what you're there to achieve;
real decision-making authority — if it's in your green zone, make the call;
access to the information and people you need;
support when you want it from the Event Director and Committee;
room to experiment, create and bring better ideas than ours;
ownership of your portfolio — we want you to shape it, not simply administer it;
recognition as part of the team building Make Tracks For Jack; and
opportunities to participate in MTFJ activities and the 2027 event where practical.
We won't pretend there are no boundaries. There are. We're an incorporated association, we're handling other people's money, we're representing an important cause, and we're taking people into a remote environment. Some decisions genuinely do require consultation or Committee approval.
But we'll make those boundaries clear from the beginning.
Inside them?
Sink your teeth into it.
Make contacts. Build things. Solve problems. Try ideas. Tell us when you think there's a better way.
And if you know more about your portfolio than we do, that's exactly why we wanted you.
What we ask in return
It's pretty simple.
Be realistic about what you can commit.
We'd rather have two reliable hours than a promised ten that never quite happen.
Keep us in the loop.
Autonomy works when everyone communicates.
Own what you agree to own.
If something isn't working, tell us early. If you need help, ask.
Respect the few things that aren't yours to decide.
Governance, safety, expenditure and reputational decisions still need the appropriate oversight.
And otherwise?
Bring your ideas. Bring your experience. Challenge ours when you need to. Make your part of this better than it was when we handed it to you.
We're not looking for people to volunteer their time for Make Tracks For Jack.
We're looking for people who want to help build it. Become a member of Make Tracks For Jack Incorporated.

Maybe you can't commit to leading a portfolio but could contribute something specific.
Perhaps you're a:
graphic designer • photographer • filmmaker • journalist • mechanic • 4WD expert • event organiser • fundraiser • counsellor • marketer • web specialist • administrator • accountant • photographer • drone operator • logistics professional • business owner
Or perhaps you simply have a contact or introduction that could help us enormously.
We're also building an informal MTFJ Crew — people who can contribute particular skills, projects or occasional assistance without taking responsibility for an entire portfolio.
